No one knows for sure the origin of Cornhole, but with its strong American following, Cincinnati Ohio is often given the credit even if it can be traced back to German roots. In 1883 inventor, Heyliger de Windt, filed a patent for the game, “PARLOR QUOITS.” This would come to be known the original name for cornhole. Unlike other sports that have one or a few common names, cornhole has an abundant number of names, Corn Hole | Baggo | Bags | Bagz | Backyard Toss | Beanbags | The Beanbag Game | Beanbag Toss | Chuck-O | Corn Toss | Lawn Toss | Hillbilly Horseshoes | Soft Horseshoes | Tailgate Toss, no matter what you call it. It is a fun game of tossing filled bags across a specified distance with the goal to sing them into the hole of a cornhole board.
A game once associated with football, tailgates and college rivals, the game has mades its way into backyards, wedding venues and onto ESPN. The game is generally played with 2 to 4 players, but can handle more if you get creative.
